Mindfulness Book Group

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Event Details

Mindfulness Book Group will meet virtually on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm to discuss books on the theme of mindfulness.
Topics will include:
-Awareness of emotions and thoughts
-Compassion for self and others
-Practical applications of mindfulness in daily life, relationships, and society.
Since mindfulness is a skill that is developed through regular practice, participants are expected to have a mindfulness meditation practice. That way, discussion can be enriched by your practice - instead of just talking about concepts, which is not what mindfulness is about. Hopefully the reading selections also can be motivating for your practice! Facilitator Susan Meyer is an experienced and credentialed mindfulness meditation teacher who offers a Tuesday evening guided meditation session every week through the library.

Nov 3, Dec 1, and Jan 5th Book Discussions will focus on Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet by Thich Nhat Hanh.  Copies of the book are available at your library or through interlibrary loan.

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the zoom link to join on the night of the book group (same link for all months)

Event Type(s): Adult
Presenter: Susan Meyer
